Could you use some encouragement? It’s easy to feel lost and small in this world, especially right now in the midst of a global pandemic, when news headlines oscillate from one sweeping crisis to another. And that’s why I cannot think of a better time for this book to get into your hands.
When I started writing my nonfiction picture book, The Gravity Tree, I had no idea it would be published during such a challenging time.
But this book is about the journey of a tiny apple seed… that grew into a tree, which produced the apple that fell right before Isaac Newton’s very eyes (in the middle of a pandemic that closed his school, no less!) The apple sparked the answer to a fundamental question: Why did it fall down? Why does everything fall down instead of up or sideways? And that lead to a monumental scientific discovery of universal gravity. But that famous moment was only part of the Gravity Tree’s incredible journey–that endures to this today, as Isaac’s tree is still ALIVE! This book is a completely true biography of a tree… but friends, here’s what I want to tell you. This book is actually about YOU, and the potential you have to change the world. It’s about the potential that lives in all of us. It’s about how the tiniest of things can change everything.
I’m so thrilled to show you the stunning cover of The Gravity Tree, masterfully illustrated by Yas Imamura.
